I need some feedback on these songs I recorded.

http://www.angelfire.com/moon/aasteveo/songs/songs.html

I just recorded these two songs last month. The first is Satch Boogie by Joe Satriani and was just my lead guitar played over a backing track. I went direct with a Toneworks AX100G into a 2-input micro-mixer. Ghetto, I know, but oh well.

I would have used my 57, but I live in a dorm and there were just too many damn annoying noises during my tracking (people knocking on the door, drunk idiots screaming in the background, etc.). Also, I had a deadline so I couldn't waste time trying to get the mic perfect.

The second is Voice of the Soul by Death and it's just me on guitar. I used an acoustic/electric that was recorded both direct, and mic-ed with an SM57. I had to mix the two signals together on my micro mixer and record to one track. The electric guitars are direct, the same way as with the first song.

I edited them with Cool Edit Pro on my PC.

So, give me all the constructive criticism you can. This is one of my first full song recording projects, and I want to know how to do it better.

What kind of deadline were you having for this?
First (before listening): if the backingtrack is pre-recorded, the only thing you recorded was the guitar, and we cannot commend on the tone of it, what do you want to hear?

IŽll get back later, downloading is too slow (13 minutes for the first song?)
