Hi, I was wondering how would I go about recording a guitar ,into mixer, into computer, with added fx,[delay, chorus, etc.]through the aux.... but NOT RECORD the fx, JUST MONITOR them, my friend says that I should just record the guitar with the fx and not worry about it, but I think it would be better to record the part dry,and then be able to play around with different dx-fx etc.
The reason I want to hear the effect is that it just makes it easier to play the part[ slight amount of delay on the lead,etc.]. so specifically, is this possible with the mackie 1402vlz?,I have a quadraverb patched into AUX.1. I've tried messing with the very obvious, but it doesnt seem to be working, any help or comments would be appreciated. |

Shred,
What are you monitoring through??? headphones or speakers? I know ART makes a headphone preamp that you can add reverb, delay, chorus, etc, that only affects your headphone mix, and not what really goes to tape. Heat |

Yo Heat, thanx for the reply, I'm monitoring through headphones, I thought about using some sort of external headphone mixer, but it seemed that I should be able to do this with the mixer, and... I was right.
Someone advised that I patch the efx returns into one of the STEREO LINE INPUTS, hit the alt3-4 button for that channel, and just assign alt3-4 to the c-r source, and not the main mix... perfection. Now I can record my stuff the way I hear & play it, and have a nice clean DRY recording to mangle and corrupt to perfection. |
