Mixdown questions - dither, headroom
a few quick questions on mixing down:
(assume 20-bit, 48khz file format) I have heard that if a track clips, it is not really clipping, because of 32-bit processing. I have also heard that there is built in limiters? 1. How far can a single track clip before I lose quality? 2. If the master clips, is it simply limited? 3. If I mix down to 16-bit, Is it enough to have the "dither" option checked, or should I run a dithering plugin? Thanks. |
