Gang Vocals?
i was wondering how to go about recording gang vocals (kinda like a choir but singing to the recorded music) without doing each singer one track at a time cuz it always loses its effect that way. would i have to get headphones for everyone and just use a few condensers? or could i just let them listen to the monitors and sing?

Just gather everyone around one mic, preferably omni. If you can't provide headphones for the gang, you can do it in front of the monitors. In that case, you might have better results using a cardiod, or better yet, a figure-eight with the null pointed at the monitors. Do a few passes for a double and triple. It will make the gang even bigger.

Stereo mic'ing allows you to surround the listener amidst the gang-voical-ing.
But single micing will, of course, make it more of a focused group... Perhaps I'm saying obvious things... |
