HELP - Setting up a mixing console with an AT4040 for Acoustic Guitar.

After all the money i've spent in equipments the last year, i can't beleive i still can't get, the decent sound that i always wanted.

Anyway.... I'm micing my acoustic guitar (wich has no pickup) at 12th fret like everyone else, at 1 foot away.

He's the Chain:

--AT4040 -- > Mackie 1202 ----> Delta 1010LT ----->24b-bit
(No lowcut)_____(EQ-flat)________(Consumer)______(WAV)

My biggest problem, is that i still don't know, what is better:

set the trim to the max. and reduce the VU meter until CLIP

or set the trim at 12 o'clock and increase the vu meter until CLIP.



can someone please tell me how to set it up, right ?, cause no matter what i do, i get to bassy recordings

What do you mean by "increase/decrease the VU meter"? Set the channel fader to unity gain, and then adjust the preamp gain until you get a healthy level to your recorder.

Your equipment is suitable to get a high quality recording. The key will be with experimenting with mic placement. Just keep moving the mic around until you get a better sound.

Your instrument could be to blame as well.

The master VOLUME, should be set to unity GAIN too ?

What exactly is your signal path? How are you getting from the mic input on the mixer to the Delta1010?

I'm using the "main outs (bal/unbal)" plugged to the RCA "line inputs" in the delta, using the "consumer input level" .
