Best Software?

Hey everyone. Firstly, I'd just like to say that I really like most people on this forum, and everyones been so helpful.

Now, onto my question. I was wondering what software you would choose for making your music besides ProTools. Adobe Audition, Sonar, Cubase? Which program? I know theres many more.

Thanks.

For that price, I got Sony Vegas 5.0. It is also a video and dvd suite. And it has surround capabilities. The track count is unlimited. It accepts directX plugins, and it's really easy to use....

I don't like Sonar that much. The layout just dose't appeal to me. Save up and get Nuendo.

If you're Mac'able, consider Digital Performer.

$500 - $700? Nuendo will be well out of your price range. If you are not doing video editing, then have a look at Cubase SX 3. In my opinion it's the most professional program on the market (Nuendo included as well of course). Fairly efficient, but laid out very well and of course has native VST and VSTi support as well as some cool options that other appplications just won't do.

I second Digital Performer. Especially for MIDI production.
