cubase stops recording

A friend of mine has problems with his Cubase VST: When he reocrds a track of a song at once, (4 minutes), it seems that Cubase has only recorded about 2 and a half minutes, and the waveform behind that point is just empty.

Any ideas what the problem may be?

You have to set the left and right recording locators to where you want it to start and stop. Check the manual.

It is a legal copy, his locators are set the right way. He doesn't have the problem when he uses another driver with more latency though.

Is was going to say that sounds like soundcard issues... is he using an ASIO driver?
