Selecting Sample rates on the JoeMeek Twin Q

Potentially stupid question, but...

How is it done? Does the legend "48k x 2" mean that I'm to leave both buttons disengaged to select 96K?

http://www.joemeek.com/images/twinq/...back_large.jpg

The manaul isn't terribly specific.

Also, must I use AES/EBU cable, or can I use XLR mic cable for the digital output to my MOTU? (I've ordered one, but I won't have it for a few days.)

I understand the impedance is lower, but what would that translate to? Noise?
