Lose the Behringer- the EQ in Pro Tools and A-D conversion in the Digi002 beats that, unless you just want lots of lights to impress girls. If you are recording drums, you need a kick mic. You also need a decent dynamic mic, or two, or three. Consider Sennheiser MD421/MD441, EV RE20, Shure SM7.. Replace the popper stopper with a Stedman 101. It is more versatile for positioning, more durable, and sounds better. People will recommend all kinds of preamps, but I have to say- the Pendulum rocks. Just make sure- the Digi 002 requires a kickass computer. If you don't have at least a 2 gig processor and 512 megs of ram, you will have "issues". I recommend a 3 gig pentium IV and 1 gig of ram, if you intend to use lots of plugins. The rest depends on what you intend to record, and how many simultaneous tracks. My rig is similar to the one you list, based around the Digi002 (mixer version) and a Music XPC S2 computer. I have a few more mics, and use the Avalon AD2022 and Joemeek twinQ, but all in all, my system is similar to what you have listed in many ways. I have the Behringer and it is very good for the metering and RTA. If you are intending to use it for that purpose, then I think it is a good buy. But if you are intending to use it like a mastering processor or master eq or anything where you run signal through it, then I would say avoid it and get something like a DBX Quantum or TC Finalizer. Or plugins, as has been mentioned. I don't run signal through my 2496, but I love it for the metering and RTA.

Otherwise, the list looks pretty good. Obviously, there are much better headphone distributors, but I'm assuming that is much further down your list of priorities right now. Also, I just should mention that the Furman unit you mention is not a power conditioner, but just a power strip in a rack case. It has filtering and surge protection, but does not actually condition the power.

Your mic and preamp list is much improved. I don't own the Pendulum myself, but have been interested in it for some time. It also has DI inputs that I've heard people speak very highly of. A perfect unit to use for micing acoustic instruments and then also as a DI for keyboards. Good choice.

Well, I do have a ton of dynamic mics already, like 3 SM57s, 1 MD421 MKII, Sennheiser e609, Shure PG58, but not any condensors.

The Mac that is on the list, is a DUAL 2.0 GHZ processor, so 4gb total of cpu power, and I will have 4gb of ram as well on that. Also, something like a UAD-1 card for the plug-ins so that the CPU isn't bogged down anyway, even though it could handle it, lol. The way the Pendulum was described to me was a very old school sound, which is what I want for the acoustic guitars that I will be recording with it. And we have a keyboard player, so it doubles it's usefulness for that.

Well I really wanted the Behringer since it had the graphic AND parametric at once, as well as dynamic eq's, a limiter, all at once. I was going to use it in my chain right before my monitors, for mixing/mastering purposes, but since it's crap...haha. I'll look into the dbx and TC units.

As far as the Furman....oh well. Right? Not that big of a deal is it?

Anyway, thanks for the responses, now I'm off to look at replacement gear once again. Eventually I will have a list posted and nobody will reply with stuff I need to take out/put in, lol. Mhmm.

K, the TC Finalizer Express looks great for my purposes. I think I will wait to add it to my list though, as I don't really want another $1k to add. But I'm sure I will get it later on. Mhmm.

Ok, I hate to tell you this because it's going to cost you more money... but you really should replace the Furman PL-Plus Series II P.Cond. with a Furman 1215 or better AC line regular. Reason why... it's cheaper to protect your investment now rather than later.

Be advised- running 2 gigs of ram or higher will require a software updrade or the 002 will choke on it. It runs fine on 1 gig. I doubt you'll have any use for more than that.

Software upgrade for what? PT? Or what? I need the extra RAM because I will be doing video work (3D rendering for video, animations, etc.). Otherwise I would've left the 1gb for PT, heh.

Correct- the 002 comes with 6.0, byt 2 gigs of ram or more requires upgrade to a later version of PT (I think it's 6.3, but I'm going on memory here). No worries- Digidesign will be happy to *sell* it to you. When I get a chance, I'll look it up for you.-Richie
