does anyone have any opinions on the Behringer B1 Single Diaphragm Studio Condenser Microphone? or can anyone recommend a good quality affordable (<$150) vocal mic for a home studio?

I've got it too. I've had it about a year... maybe longer and the thing is consistently making weird sounds at this point. Zipper type sounds, wind noise, fading in and out, popping and coming back up from no sound. Usually being rough with it gets rid of the problems for a while but yeah, it's way annoying. As for the sound, I've only used it on vocals and overheads once and I prefer it over the AT 3035 and the Groove Tubes GT 55. I did a session with a band a few weeks ago and started them out with the GT 55 and the singer didn't like how her voice was sounding so I traded it in for the B1 and she loved it. Oddly enough, it goes that way for almost every singer I work with. It doesn't make any sense. You spend 200 dollars more on a mic and always come back to the broken piece of ass. Anyways, it sounds great in my opinion, but is always broken. If you want samples let me know. I should be getting a SP C1 any day now in the mail so I'll let you know how it compares to that.
Good luck. |
