RE16 vs M69
With all the talk about dynamics recently (some of which I started), I think I might want to get something a little better than my SM57. I'd love a MD441 or a SM7 or RE20, but I'm kinda short on cash. So basically I've limited it down to the EV RE16 and the Beyer M69(tg). I've searched around and there seem to be equal numbers of positive reviews for both, so I figured I'd see what all of you thought. For cab, snare, acoustic instruments, the occasional back-up vocal and hand percussion (pretty much all-around workhorse mic), what would you recommend? Thanks

For an 'all round mic' I'd prefer cardioid - RE15

Nobody wants to defend the helpless M69TG? Am I to think that the RE15/16 is an all around superior mic?
P.S. thanks paddy and chess for responding! -Peter |

I have an older M69. It's not what I would go to as a recording mic for any source. I think of it as the European answer to the Shure SM58.
