Cool V amp 2 MIDI Win XP

HI
I can't get XP to see my V amp2.
The only Midi cable I have is a serial port out to the Vamp (serial to 2 DIN plugs in and out)
I have downloaded the editor for the Vamp 2,
When I run the scan it tells me I have no MIDI at all.

Anyone know how I tell XP to find the vamp?

I have 2 sound cards:

One on the MODO VIA/97 with microsoft wave table

One RME Hamerfall ADAT card using toslink for my behringer desk

Sonar can see the RME ok but I have never used MIDI on this system.

Cheers
Bob

You have to have 2 cables on it...midi in and midi out.

I'm not familiar with the V-amp software but I'm pretty sure you have to select a midi-port in the software... sounds like you may have a few different ports to choose from...

It also sounds more like a gameport socket on the PC then a serial...

Most game-port (Joystick ports) can recieve and transmit MIDI, most standard serial ports will not by default. Your hardware may require specific drivers for any of these ports to communicate with MIDI protocol. Check with your hardware manufacturers to see if there are drivers available. Worst case scenario, you can pick-up a cheap USB-MIDI interface.
