Devil Town

A blues/rock little ditty with plenty of slide guitar. I'm not really a religious guy, but this idea came to me, so I went with it. Yeah, as singer, I'm playin' Jesus, and that part of it I'm not changing. One question I have -- I prefer the title as "Devil Town" which is referenced throughout, but after reading the lyric, do you think it should be "Angel Town" (even though there's only one reference to it)? All comments to improve this lyric are most welcome.

DEVIL TOWN
© Tom Guertin All Rights Reserved

(Verse 1)
I'm goin' down to Devil Town
Won't ya say a little prayer for me?
With a thorny crown and blood-stained gown
Gotta showdown with my destiny

(Verse 2)
I'm goin' down to Devil Town
Won't ya say a little prayer for me?
I'll show that clown, I'm the man of renown
Gonna change the course of history

(Bridge)
When I see 'ol Satan, I'll wipe the smirk off his face
I rose from the dead, to come and take his place
I'm goin' down to Devil Town
Lucifer, he ain't got nothin' on me
Oh no...

(Instrumental slide guitar break)

(Verse 3)
I'm goin' down to Devil Town
Won't ya say a little prayer for me?
The horned coward is down, he fell on holy ground
Just made the devil cop a plea

(Bridge - modified)
Lord, that Satan, he left without a trace
He couldn't kill me twice, now I've taken his place
Lord, it's time, to stake our claim
Let's clean-up this town, we need to change the name
I'm goin' down to Angel Town
The hostages are finally free
Oh yeah...

(Instrumental slide guitar break)

(Verse 4)
So, remember to frown on 'ol Devil Town
And still say a little prayer for me
So, remember to frown on 'ol Devil Town
Won't ya say a little prayer with me

(Tag)
Won't ya say a little prayer with me
Won't ya say a little prayer with me
Oh yeah...

I wouldn't change a thing. I'd like to hear the song, though. When can you post it?

Thanks Rokket. I'm a newb to recording and am just assembling my home studio components now -- then I have to learn how to use everything. So, it'll be a while before I can post any of my songs. But I'm anxious to get at it and then get some feedback on the complete product rather than just the lyric. Having said this, I usually like to get feedback on a lyric first without the music. Although some say they need the music to judge the lyric in the context of the whole, sometimes the music can be a detractor. I prefer that the lyric can stand on it's own -- hopefully to the extent that it practically sings itself off the page. I think I still have a way to go in that regard though .
