Question Sonar 4 - Apply effect to a portion of a track?

In Sonar 4, how does one apply an effect to a portion of a track - for instance, a delay on the last word of a of a vocal line?

Option #1 - Destructive
Hold down ALT and left-click thru the time range you want. Right click the selected portion, choose AUDIO EFFECTS and whatever effect you want. Turn SNAP TO GRID off for finer selections.

Option #2 - Non-Destructive, but messy
Select the bit of the track in the same way as above. CTRL+DRAG it down to a new track. Apply the FX you want in the new track's FX bin.

Option #3 - Non-Destructive and Elegant
Insert the effect on the source track. Set it up so the end bit sounds how you like it. Right mouse click on the audio track, choose ENVELOPES - CREATE TRACK ENVELOPE - (The name of the FX you inserted) - Then choose something like the MIX parameter. Insert a node at the beginning of the track and set it to a "0" level. Insert another node at the end where you want the effect and set it to the appropriate level to mix in the amount of delay you want to hear.

Ciao,

Q.

I think option 3 is the best. More professional and as Qwerty said elegant.

Question

Actually what I'm trying to do is reverse reverb - where you reverse a small portion (~1 second), then apply a long decay reverb to that portion, then reverse the portion back to normal.

Now, with your suggestions, option 1 is the only way to do this.

I am able to select the portion and reverse it, but then, when I attempt to apply the effect to the selected portion, it doesnt apply. I've tried 3 different reverbs, it allows me to "Audition" to hear what it WOULD sound like, but it never edits the audio. I am using the demo version of SONAR, is this why?
