LR Baggs M1 ??

I just came across This Page that has a bunch of mp3's so you can compare the sound of different pickups.

I listened to them all twice, the second time jotting down ones I liked. My favorite one i think was the LR Baggs M1, and my second favorite was the LR Baggs Active Element.

I was really surprised at the results from the Radio Shack lapel mic. I felt it had the most "Acoustic" sound, but I really prefer the added detail of almost every other pickup. (Listen to the strumming track, and the very last strum he lets it ring muffled. You can barely hear it on the RS lapel mic, but on most of them you can hear it somewhat better.

Anyways, i am not getting a pickup now, but wouldn't mind picking up a better one closer to summer time when I plan to start some live playing. I was wondering if anybody had comments on the LR Baggs M1 or anything else. If I had to choose just by listening to the mp3's I would choose it. Are there any of the recordings that you guys like better than the M1?

I have the M1 installed on one of my guitars (a Santa Cruz OMPW) and I like it. The sound is pretty good, and it's resistant to feedback at performance volumes. I've used pretty much every soundhole pickup under the sun and the Baggs runs a close second to the Sunrise in my opinion. The Sunrise will set you back some $$'s, because you really need to buy the SB1 preamp to go with it.

LR Baggs is a great company. I've had the pleasure of having Lloyd to my house for dinner, and he is an awesome guy. Plus I think his pickups reproduce the sound of an acoustic the most naturally. When buying audio gear, company support is a big factor, and I can say personally that you'd get great product support from LR Baggs.
