Tweeter got messed up

Today I noticed the tweeter of one of my monitors shows a sort of weird flaw (that it didn's show before).
I find it hard to describe, therefore I have added a picture on which hopefully you can see what I mean. The outer rim of the tweeter shows a sort of folds that don't look particulary healthy to me.
What may have caused this and, above all, will it affect the sonical credibility of my monitors?
Feel free to ask further questions concerning the nature of the problem.

2. Have you contacted the manufacturer?
3. Have you contacted the retailer?

You can also put a link to a file that has been mixed down on those monitors to find out what the consequences of it are. This will enable other people to listen on their own monitors and tell you how if in any way has the tweeter been affected.
