Lightbulb Sit back and cry.

What does everyone think of this mix/master. I used pro tools with digi192 and wavelab for mastering.
I am happy with the mixdown, but not totally sure about the master.

SIT BACK

Link's working, second up from bottom.

Not my cup o tea, but I'm not listening because I'm going to bu ya record.

I could only get the low-fi to play (think soundclick requires you to register for mp3 download and hi-fi playback). From what I could hear, and from what I could tell from the 1:22 long clip, there's some playing ability going on. The recording itself lacks clarity on the guitars during the harder/faster parts. I think it's suffering from 3/4 piece (with singer) band syndrome. The guitarist (assuming there's only one as I could only hear one) needs to play less single notes and more open chords and let them ring, otherwise you'll always sound a bit 'flat'. There's also some tricks with chorus and repeaters that could emulate a second rhythm to help fill things in. Check out some '70s and early '80s Rush to see what I mean.

I could hear the vocals/bass/drums fine the whole time. Vocalist isn't bad, bassist is busy which is good with only one other guitarist (again, assuming that from what I heard).

Lots of energy!

Now it works.

I can't judge the master with this horrid mp3.

Check the lo end. I think its a bit too much and kills the clarity of the mix at points. I think i boosted the volume very poorly so more loss of clarity and also guitars sound like they are jumping around kinda.
There were actually two guitars there, but this mix was rushed and i didnt boost the other guitar enough. The two guitars are distinguishable at the quiet part. One plays the main riff and the other does some ambient harmonics.
I have remixed the song and the lo end is now under controll. I took lo end from the kik drum and the bass guitar as it was overpowering the mix at points. I shall post the finished mix soon (hoping it actually will be finished this time!!).
