I'm going to GC today to try out monitors.
I'm taking my HariKrishna EXTENDED 5hr Concert CD

Can't give you an answer to the question, but I can tell you that the Wharfedales are great, especially for the price.

The 8.2A have a 6.5" LFD and the RP5s have a 5" LFD. The 8.2A have better bass response

I went to GC for 3hrs of monitor comparisons.
they don't have Wharfs. but the KRK RP8's were hooked up.
going for $400 pair. My pick of all of em, for price point etc.

Gear-Snob-Peasent says:
1st) Mackie 8" powered $699ea best in store. (sweet, like HiEnd Hi-Fi)
2nd) KRK V8 $424ea good stuff (so this is what it sounds like!)
3rd) KRK RP8-$199 ea ok,louder-better, like? KRK V8 without some mids!
4) EVENT TRN8- $400 pair sweet, didn't like hi volume-but decent
5) M-AUDIO BX8-$425 pair, strange- good/bad, not sure..both?
6) Alesis MK2- not bad, expected sht- but better than many, had some DB
7) TRN6- $199 ea sweet at low volume, missing bass
8) BX5- $250 pair -poopy sound, great price
9) KRK4- $250 ea- HAHAHAHAAA
10) BX4- Salesman said "i wouldn't even sell those to you"
11) Roland-Plastic $98 pair, great for Walkmans too.

I may have to agree with Dracon...save up. procrastinate.
Wouldn't buy anything under 8" in this group.
If your gonna need a sub...add that in and your close to the KRKV8's!

Qusetion: What made the Mackie8" and KRKV8 HI $$$ sound better to me?
ANSWER: They sounded more like crisp HI-FI home stereo speakers.
