killer guitar solos

hey I need some help. I am mixing a song at the moment and i am having some real trouble with the guitar solo. I am looking for a machine head style solo sound i.e their solo's are very clear in the mix. Are there any eqing, compression tricks or anything that can help me get a really clear solo sound.

The song is quite similair to machine head and the guitar sounded good when i was tracking and still good when i am listening back to it . it just needs something extra.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Dave

What machine head? The band or the DP-album? I'm not really familiar with the band and its sound.

Find a guitarist with a killer sound of the kind you want and record him/her. Anything else is licking your wounds.

Try double tracking, if the guitarist can play it again, accurately. Play with the panning, to find the spot where it sits best. Chorus or stereo delay might also do the trick.
