Question MIDI Newbie - Looking for Hookup Help

I'm considering jumping into the world of MIDI, and I've tried to do my homework in regards to what hardware and software I want to use.

I've decided on an M-Audio Radium 61 keyboard controller with a separate Alesis SR-16 drum machine.
As for software, I'm going with Cakewalk Project5. (I know there's drums in Project5, but the SR-16 has more "old school" sounds; which is what I want.)

My question is this... how exactly should I hook up all of the hardware???

I know that the keyboard goes into my computer's USB, and there's a MIDI in and MIDI out on the keyboard as well. Is this a simple matter of just hooking up the Alesis to the Radium's MIDI ins and outs?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey Joe,
I'm not sure if this applies to your situation specifically, but here are some diagrams of common MIDI setups:

And this is a good read in general:

Best of luck.

the Radium does not have MIDI ins, instead it has 2 MIDI outs. 1 is directly from the keyboard (For standalone operation), and the other is for connecting your external modules to the PC MIDI driver (For use from software sequencers). But this isn't a problem unless you planned on using the the SR-16 pads to trigger sounds in Project 5 (In which case you could pick-up an additional 1x1 MIDI interface too for probably another $30-$40).
