Direct input recording

Im looking at buying a direct box for recording bass.But I have noticed that on my Peavey p.a has a 1/4" balanced TRS high-impedance input.Could I use this instead of using a DI box by plugging the bass directly into it and taking a line out and into my normal mixers line input ready for recording?

Depends on what happens when you plug the bass into it...do you get any decent sound? The rest of it sounds like it would work.
