Synching Roland 1880 to Audition

Im dumping tracks recorded on a Roland 1880 into Audition via a Delta 1010LT. The Roland only has 8 direct outs that I can utilize, so I have to make two passes for the dump into Audition. With Audition is it possible to control the Roland via Midi, so when I do my second pass, everything locks up? If so, how the hell do you do it?

Unfortunately, no.

Auditions MIDI capabilities are quite limited to playback and editing of MIDI files. There is no way to utilize Audition as a Master to the Roland as a slave... However (I used to use an 1880) if you save all the tracks from the 1880 as solo tracks, full length of the recording in wave format, you can dump them the long, hard, and painful way...

It's time consuming, but without the CD-R plugin in, or a zip drive for the Roland to the PC, there's no easier way to tranfer those files.

It takes a tad more effort, but I can get them to line up manually later. Thanks for the info, now I won't waste the time trying to get Audition to control the 1880.

You should be able to set up MTC sync between the two.
Audition MTC/SMPTE slave. Set midi in port for sync. Pick 30fpsND.
Roland VS, MTC master 30fpsND. Connect VS midi out to pc midi in.
Set AA tracks into record, should say waiting for time code.
Hit 1880 play, all should start together.
I used to do this with a humble VS840, so it should be possible with the 1880!

That said, it really is both better and more convenient to directly transfer with .wav files if you can. If it means making a CD-r, then you've got a backup of the tracks in the bargain!

Thanks Jim, I'll try that.
