Sending CEP Audio to FL Studio??

I would like to send multitracked vocals from CEP over to FL Studio but there is ONE BIG PROBLEM! How can I do this without losing the position in time from my CEP session?

I find myself just inserting the WAVs and having to find the position all over again in the FL Studio playlist.

Start with a click track for your song in FL. Allow a four-beat intro or something if it's in 4/4. Record your song, and make a mixdown. Then ship it into FL (the same session you created the click track with). Things should be lined up. (But if you've already recorded the Cool Edit session, then it should be easy enough to insert a click track from FL and line things up right in Cool before carrying out the above procedure.)

It works for me, but it's a cumbersome pain in the ass in two ways: first, it only plays from the beginning, so if I want to work on something at the 2.30 mark, I still have to listen to the whole two and half minutes first. I want a RAM function for this stuff. Second, my computer doesn't like having the two applications open at the same time, so I'm always having to close one out before working on stuff in the other one.

I'm not enough of a techie to know why these obstacles exist, but if somebody came up with a good beats program that allowed me to have it and Cool Edit/Audition open at the same time, and which could access any point in the song in the beats program, I'd pay a lot of money for it. Well, *quite* a bit of money lol.

Thanks. Not quite understanding what you meant though. When you refer to a "click track", are you talking about the metronome? If not, how long should the click track be? What do you mean when you say to record the song and then send it back into FL? Does that mean to insert it as an audio file or a channel.

Sure thing.

When I say make a click track in Fruity, I mean do a session in Fruity with the tempo you want - use a shaker or a kick or whatever instrument you want to listen to in the headphones later on. Make the track as long as you need it to be, plus a little longer for the intro. So if the song's 3.00 min long, make the Fruity track 3.05 or 3.10 or something. Save the Fruity session. Then save it as a wav file.

Open your Cool session. Insert the Fruity wav file into the Cool session. Now record your song using the Fruity click track as a tempo guide. If the song's in 4/4, allow it to play four beats before you start playing. A one-anna-two-anna-three-anna-four-anna- PLAY! When you're done, save the multitrack session. Then mix it down (but mute the Fruity click track first).

When you've got a mixdown of the session, you can bung it back into Fruity in the session with your original Fruity click track. You've already got the click track in that session, right? Okay, now open a new sampler channel in the Fruity session. Right click the Sampler button, left click Load Sample. Find the Cool Edit mixdown and load it into the Fruity session. When you hit Play in Fruity, it should all be in sync. Should be lol. It works for me.

Thanks again Dobro. I see you are taking the long way also, even longer than my way LOL. Instead of singing over a click track, you midas well just export the song from FL into Wav format then into CEP, that way you can get your tonation and stuff on point. Usually when I export my vocals into FL Studio, I use the Audio portion of the playlist (bottom part). That way you arent forced to listen to dead air and you have more control. A friend of mine refered me to "ReWire". Not sure exactly how to ReWire with CEP/AA but it sounds interesting
