Using MIDI Controller with Cool Edit - Help!

I got the M-Audio Keystation 49e for Christmas... I'm completely new to this, and I'd like to know how to get it working with Cool Edit so I can record songs using various MIDI instruments. I've hooked it up to the computer, but I can't figure out what setting to change in Cool Edit so that I can hear the keyboard as I play/record.

Well, I hope that questions doesn't make me sound too dumb -- thanks for any suggestions!

Ah, that would explain my difficulty :-) Can you recommend a program that would let me record using the Keystation? Basically, I don't know what the Keystation *can* do, but what I want to do is just record something like a drum part or a bass line using it. I'm not sure how to get started.

Thanks!

What you need is a sequencer/sampler. There's many out there that do both audio and midi. eg. cubase.

Audition (CEP) is targeted and sold to focus more the audio side of things.

I dont know enough about midi to really be of help but check out the Keyboard forum on this board.
