Question Qustion on Tascam488 Mixdown w/ BBE Enhancer

Hi,

I have been away from recording for a long time. I recently set up a Tascam488 cassette 8 track, with a BBE 482 Enhancer, A Tascam 102 cassette deck for mixdown & powered monitors. ( Very limited budget I know, but I am not ready to make the digital jump yet)

My question is this: Should I come out of the Tascam488 INTO the BBE Enhancer ( this sure brightens the mix)....then out of the BBE into the mixdown deck & powered monitors. The BBE has 2 outputs, so one goes to the monitors, the other either the mixdown deck or pc for burning.

Tascam told me not to use the Enhancer. However I spoke with a salesman at a music store & he said this is the right way to do it. This is the way I used to do it 15 years ago.

Any help & other thoughts appraciated. ...

TIA,
SJR

Yes you can insert the enhancer inbetween your recorder and mixer, but make sure your levels are in an optimum range, dont overshoot it. Ananlog gives a little more headroom than digital, so if you are going to send the mix to a PC then you better not use the enhancer. Good Luck!
