Kurzweil PC2?

I thought I was going to purchase a K2600 but decided I do not need a sequencer.
Does anyone own a PC2 or PC2X? Any info would be appreciated.

The PC2 and PC2X are far less programmable than the 2600 series. If you plan on doing heavy programming or sound design type work, the 2600 would be the choice. There's a lot more *extra* in the 2600 than the sequencer!

I don't think they sound the same. The 2600 has the KDFX effects in it, which go a long way toward making it an amazing sounding synth. The 2600 series also has all that programming available, VAST and all that. It's a much more powerful synth than the PC2.

Well since I own a Kurzweil KSP8 and the PC2 comes with:

Effects (Dual Processors): Processor A presets: 58 Reverbs, 6 Delays, 10 Choruses, 6 Flangers, 3 Phasors, 4 Shapers, 2 Enhancers, 8 Filtered Effects, 4 Distortions, 1 Mono>Stereo, 3 Wide Stereo, 4 Compressors, 2 Panners, 7 Rotarys, Stereo Tremolo, and 44 combination effects chains utilizing Kurzweil1s unique Laserverb

Processor B effects: 30 Reverbs including booths, rooms, chambers, halls, and plates.

Effects Routing: All 16 MIDI channels can send to A and to B in any amount. Also there is a global send from A to B for serial effects chaining.

I don't think I need more effects. I am using this keyboard for gigs. I heard the demos on the Kurzweil web site. They sounded pretty good.
I would like to hear from anyone who owns a PC2. Thanks.

pc2 is a midi controller + sounds, btw the kb3 is really nice, pianos are great too, and midi is very nice too. in the pc2 u can save your midi setup so is easy to play, 4 midi zones.

not the best synth, but prolly one of the best midi controllers, only bad thing is the ac power plug (ala supervideo) mine breaks, and never find the replacement, so need to mod the plug.

I have a Kurzweil Micro Ensemble which I control from my Kurzweil SP88.

The Micro Ensemble has the same sounds as the PC2 with the exception that it does not have the B3 Organ (KB3) patches/setups or the expansion board support. (PC2 now ships default with the Orchestral ROM which I'm told is stunning).

The sounds are pretty darned good, and the expansion ROMs only make things better. However, it isn't much of a synth at all. It has some Synth sounds, but they're not good for every purpose. I would say go try one out if you can.

Well I found a 1 year old K2600 for $1,600 and purchased it. I'll post my feedback after I've had a chance to mess around with it.
