I need help spending 300 dollars

I would like to start recording, with a budget of 300 dollars, and all I own is a guitar and an amp. What would be the best way to utilize my budget?
Currently I'm looking at getting a multi-track cassette recorder, and a couple of mics, is that the best way to do it?
I don't need to record really high sound quality, just good enough so after I'm done noodling around on my guitar for an hour I can play back what I came up with so I won't forget stuff I wrote a day later.
If you're reading this could you please suggest a decent cassette recorder and a couple of mics, keeping in mind my budget, or suggest an easier way to record in my bedroom?

I would suggest a Tascam 424MKIII - they have been discontinued recently. Because of this, you should be able to find one pretty cheap...the last i checked they were $299 at musician's friend.

You could go with the 414 to save yourself some cash - but I'd stick with the 424, as it has better EQ.

Don't forget a mic - Shure 57 will run you about $80, i think. Pick up a mic stand w/ boom as well.

I know this is a little over your budget. I'd suggest saving a few more dollars until you can buy this equipment...you'll thank yourself in the long run.

good luck.
