What's "rep power"?
I just noticed this little feature when I post, called "rep power". What the heck is that? I have a rep power of 2 with 551 posts, but another person has a rep power of 4 with a couple hundred less posts than me. What is "rep power" and how is it calculated? :-)

"Reputation" power. If you post something that makes sense and someone appreciates it, you click on the "scale" icon and basically give them a "thumbs-up" - adding to their reputation.
Hopefully, I'll have another point after you read this. ![]() |

Massive, what you are talking about is something different I believe. Those are "reputation points", the little scales of justice icon thingy. "Rep power" seems to be something else entirely.
You have almost 1,900 posts to your name, and yet you have the same "rep power" as me with 550+ posts. EdWonbass, I did a search for rep power and there have been some threads on it recently, but nobody ever really came up with a definitive answer. "Rep power' seems to be something other than "reputation points", but there must be some connection, right? Puzzling, who thinks up this stuff? |

Nah dude. It's just a little "popularity button". That's all. Watch. I'll give you a point, your power should go up.
EDIT: I might be wrong. Ha.

See I have a -16 rep. You can't see it because it only shows counts that are + in public.
Come to the Cave for a little while and you will see how people who were losers in high school get back at people with this joke of a button. ![]()

I am up to seven reps because I stay out of the cave so I don't make anyone mad.

Warhead, you and I have almost exactly the same number of posts. At least today!
geet73, you didn't make me more popular! My "rep power" is the same as before. I wonder how it is calculated? Certainly the moderators must know this. |

What is rather weird for me is that my rep power is 4 to the public, but 13 on my CP.
So I have no idea.

You have points and power. Points are based on the feedback you receive only. Power is based on your feedback points rating, your time on the board and your post count.
Ho ho ho!

Maybe if someone with lots of rep power gives you a point it counts more than if someone with low rep power gives you a point.

Im thinking that every 10 rep points gives you 1 rep power....everyone check there points and see if that looks possible...

No - I have 90+ points and only a rep power of 3. Honestly, I explained it to you. The flip side is, as guessed above, if you have a higher Rep Power that means you add or take away more points when you leave feedback for others. Honest! Now give me some positive feedback!!

Noise--
BTW, noisedude is certainly a fitting name for a dude living in Leeds, UK. When I was a boy, I thought "Live at Leeds" was one of my favorite records despite all the scratchy noises. |

Noisedude is the dumbest name ever!!!
When I was signing up for a hotmail account, I wanted 'musicman' or something similar. So I went through every combination of music and bloke related words till I found one that was free ... unfortunately noisedude was a long way from where I started!! Then I had to use it as my username everywhere because my memory is so poor! Nothing happens live at Leeds any more - it's probably the biggest city in the world not to have a single decent large music venue.
