Revox A-77 ... worth fixing?
Hi
I've got an old A-77, which seems to be bust - when I hit play the reels turn but when I take my finger off it stops...... I'm a total novice with reel2reels. Any guidance as to whether its worth fixing would be nice! Havent even tested it with a tape yet. CHeers |

Yes it is worth fixing if you have a use for it. I too have an aging A-77 and with the exception of playing back old noisy tapes I don't care about anymore, I can't think of any reason to keep it in top shape.
I used to think it had collector value but it doesn't even have that anymore. The A-77 is s true workhorse and almost every radio production studio through the '80s had a few until DAWs became the norm. |
