from what I've read on here there's a lot of happy people who have been saved a lot of money by Deepwater. Don't beat the guy up for helping out who he can here.

I don't think I've asked about a $39.00 Behringer mic. In fact I dropped the Behringer line.

Of course I'm going to try and buy something I'm a dealer for because I get it at my cost. I happen to be a dealer for KRK and I needed monitors what's wrong with that. I just wanted to make sure I bought the right thing for me.

Remember I'm a sound contractor not a recording engineer.

The problem is is that you are asking questions under the pretense of
being a noobie buyer,when your real intention is to stir up conversation

Wtf?!? ALL of his posts say things like that? I have seen basically every post he has made as of late, and I have seen absolutely nothing of the sort on any occassion, so I went back and looked through a ton of the first ones he made.

And what did I find? Surprise! NOTHING like what you say! I've seen a few posts where he recommended stuff he didn't sell, even when he sold something similar. A lot of his posts don't even discuss a product in the first place. From what I have seen, almost everything he posts is intended solely for helping someone.

Wow, look at all the advertisement there for his acoustical treatment products! I see one not-so-obvious link that goes to his site, and it is to a section with a bunch more helpful articles.

He has written a lot that tells people how to build their own effective traps for cheap, even though he sells stuff intended for that.

Besides, his products OBVIOUSLY aren't aimed at "noobs" in the first place.

Apparently, those who invest their time to help others on this forum are immoral people, at least, according to you, who are definitely in a position to label others in such a manner when you resort to personal attacks involving offensive language when you have no constructive or otherwise intelligent response.

I dont really feel that what Ethan does is mis leading.He offers good imformation for free.But for X amount of $$$ you can get some great info.
I really dont have a problem with folks here selling themselves or thier wares.
What I do have a problem with is deception,and Deepwater is deceptive.
What if I ask a plumbing question and acted as if I didnt know shit(no pun intended)about it,when my real intention was to stir up talk about a plumbing product that I sell?

Let me make sure I got this right -

1: I can't ask questions because trying to get the best setup for myself is spamming.

2: I can't answer questions because when I recommend something I'm spamming.

3: You can't advertise you sell something in signature line, but you can offer links to your studio and recording services.

That’s about the stupidest junk I've heard of and I will not yield to that crap.

1: If I want to buy something for little my recording setup I will ask if it’s right or if something is better. I bought my AW16G from AMS and even told you guys I did

2: If I think something will work for someone I will recommend it. I've recommended I lot of stuff I don't sell.

3: Lets ban all signature lines

At R/E/P [where I'm a moderator] we prefer it if those who post have their professional affiliation in their signature file so we can have basis for evaluating the validity [or lack of] the information in their presentation.

Good point, Fletcher. I'm just a jerk with an ADAT and a few mic pre's that I bought off e-bay, should my advice be weighed the same as someone who runs a studio? Probably not. Signature lines help with this, I think.

And doesn't a signature line help us learn who may or may not have an interest in making money on products? If we know who dealers are versus people who own studios versus musicians, and a dealer recommends things that they sell, can't we all put this in perspective ourselves?

According to our resident expert (DJL) in all things considered spam and unacceptable advertising, links in your signature are considered advertising and are not allowed, at least, by his interperation of the "rules" here. If you are a seller of audio equipment, it has also been suggested that you shouldn't even be allowed to start a thread here - about anything.

Last thread I started here got me banned from the site.
