Question AA 1.5 and MIDI?

Can you record MIDI in Audition 1.5? I can't figure out how to do it. I figured out how to import MIDI but not record. If it's not possible, how would i get MIDI to go along with multi-track audio. Would I use another program or what? Thanks in advance.

Nope it only lest you import midi not record it. Its marketed mainly as a multitrack audio recorder and editor.

Yes if you want to record and edit midi than you'll need another program.

setab . try what i use. midi functionality that cant be beat.
includes midi to wave , and you can use softsyths as well.
it would make a great companion for cool.
basically you could do all your midi in it using guide audio tracks.
then import the resulting mix as a wave into cool and do all the rest in cool.
heres the link. try the demo.
http://pgmusic.com/powertracks.htm
and theres user reviews at the site.
ps. it will even display music scores, and notation is editable.
very usefull for working with other musicians.

another program you might find usefull at the same site is band in a box.
its very handy for musicians working without other musicians.
as the name implies you choose a song style from god knows how many or do your own, and it creates a back up band in software eg..drums, bass,
keys, etc etc. just try it sometime and read the user forums.

Does this "Band in a Box" make it so I can write the other parts? Or does it do it itself? I already have the bass and drums. I'm just trying to record my sinth via MIDI. But if it'll work, I'll check it out. Thanks.

reason is fantastic (for what it is, a software synth), and with AA 1.5, you can sync the two together using ReWire - it comes with reason 2 and 2.5, but i'm not sure about Adapted.

i've got lag when i do it, apparently AA doesn't have ASIO drivers yet, but that's ok. reason will let you program and number of drum and synthesizer tracks ... strings, bass, FX, it's an extremely powerful tool for us home musicians.

to sync Reason with AA 1.5, open audition, select a track, go to 'options' - 'device properties' - click the checkbox to enable reason, click the radio button for summed stereo output (should be the default), click launch. reason should launch in slave mode ... the controls from audition should control reason, the bars and beats should also be in sync ... have fun!

on my pc, i get a two note lag when reason is running ReWired, so i just start them up separately, loop audition, and hit 'play' in reason when audition comes back around to 1:1:00. it's a crappy workaround, but it's better than nothing.

good luck.

--edit--
also, you can use your midi keyboard to control reason ... i don't have one yet, but my friend does, and he's made some amazing stuff ... someone here should be able to give you some more in depth info.
