Help with settings on Yamaha PSR-220
Hello all,
I am trying to setup my old Yamaha PSR-220 keyboard as a controller but needed a little help w/ the settings in the MIDI menu. The items in the menu are: KeybdOut (1-16) RemoteCh (1-16) extClock (On/Off) Local (On/Off) Rcv SW (On/Off) RcvChSel (1-16) AcompOut (On/Off) As per the advice that I received in a previous thread "Local" is set to "off" and I'm assuming the KeybdOut would coincide with the channel I set up to receive in my sequencer, other than that I'm lost. If anyone has a primer they'd recommend on this stuff I'd love to read it... I've read all the MIDI basics stuff but haven't gotten into things like this yet. Thanks. Oh, using N-Track if that makes a difference. |

If you just want the PSR-220 to be a plain old midi controller and not use any of the internal sounds, set the 'rcv sw' to off. If you do want to use the internal sounds set this switch on and whatever sound you select for channel one should be heard thru the computer when you play the keys.
If n-tracks supports VSTi's (also called softsynths) go here to get some free ones. If not, start a collection of hardware modules from ebay. Since you already have a keyboard you only need to look for modules --- almost every one, no matter how low the price, has SOMETHING to recommend it... |
