program to send midi commands from keyboard?

does anyone know of a simple, preferably freeware program, that i could use to assign different midi-commands to the keys on my keyboard?

i just want to send simple midi commands from my laptop to my gibson echoplex digital pro using keys on my laptop's keyboard.

anyone know something that could do this easily?

thanks!

Check this out: Virtual MIDI Keyboard.

Unfortunately, it's only for peecee...

For Mac, there's the Micro MIDI Controller, which appears to be much more complex, but workable.

There's probably more software out there - try Googling something like "virtual MIDI keyboard". Good luck!

i actually do need it for pc...

that virtual midi keyboard program would work if i could assign the keys for midi program change. it only allows you to scroll through the programs with the up/down keys...the most important need i have is being able to press say....R....and get it to change immediately to program 12.

thanks though!!

I used to use mousekeyboard a long while back.....dont know how it is now but heres the site if youd like to take a look.

It used to be 'postcardware'....10 second delay on the start, I think.
