Just got my MoreMe head phones in, review
Obviously they are not meant to perform like a $300.00 set of headphones, but they are supposed to be studio friendly for tracking and competitive compared to other headphones that are more expensive.
http://www.frontendaudio.com/MoreMe%20Headphones.htm I find that they are extremely light, that is usually a bad sign with any audio equipment. Good for headphones maybe, but they should have some weight to them. The speakers look to me like cheap little 1/2" speakers from radioshack. The headband is very tight, which I don't like. But they are comparable to headphones in their price range and probably slightly above their price range. I was getting distortion when I turned up the bass a lot. But the distortion might be from maxing out the BR 1180's internal headphones amp. The sound was clear but a bit too much in the mid range area. At least they are not tinny and high though. The bass is punchy and when polaying all my tracks back together the sound held up without muddying up and distorting. Their is a neat little mono/stereo switch on the headphones. They are too tight for my taste and I do not have a big head. They are a bit cheap in the look and feel and they are too tight, but the sound is good for monitoring and they are probably at least as good if not better than anything else in their price range. I was hoping for a miracle and thought I might end up with a really good set of headphones from a startup company trying to make a name for itself, but that was fantasy. They are a good set of headphones, but I still need to buy a high end set. Its funny though, because I have tried a bunch of cheap headphones, and the best ones so far are a pair of 20 year old brown realistic's from RadioSHack. They are comfortable and have a smooth sound, but they distort when playing back bass with everything else at high volume. Next I will get a rack mount budget headphone amp either used or I'll get that behringer (it is only a headphone amp). Then I will look around for a decent set of headphones. |

Hey man I just wanted to point out that Harvey as well as everyone else who supports the More Me's never stated that they would replace a "high end" pair of phones.
I own 2 sets and they work perfectly for giving headphones to that certain dumb ass who comes into your place and is clumsy and breaks everthing in his path. Would I use them as my personal pair of phones for tracking/checking mixes? No but I wouldn't think twice about passing them out to bands who I don't trust with high dollar phones. The repair policy alone is worth the 20 bucks. If the phones are too tight just bend them a little bit and they should loosen up on your head. Anyhow, not knocking you for your opinion but you have to remember what they are. A $20 dollar pair of headphones.........they will get the job done but they aren't going to perform miracles. |

The tightness is adjusted easily as explained above. If you pop the drivers out, you'll find that they measure about 1-1/2" across, slightly smaller than the Sony 7506's. They are what they are, and I tried to spell that out pretty carefully on the www.moreme.info page, but I'll say it again here. I blew so many fucking pair pf good phones, I just got tired of dumping hundreds of dollars into the pockets of Sony, Koss, Grado, and a whole bunch of other phone manufacturers. (I'm sending back a pair of Metrophones tomorrow because one side went out and the covers are falling apart - but they'll repair them for $30 - at least the phone part.) I'll tell you the same thing I tell everybody; if you don't like them, send them back and I'll refund every dime you paid for them, including the shipping. My computer is down, but I suspect you bought a $30 Deluxe set and a $6 20 foot extension cord? If you only bought the phones, then I owe you some money, which I'll send you. |

Anybody here care to relate what happened when their MoreMe headphones broke or went bad? The point I'm trying to make is that sometimes it's more important that a tool keeps working rather than it being the best possible tool. It doesn't do ya much good to have the best tool, if it's broken. Last edited by Harvey Gerst; 12-16-2004 at 11:16.. |

I agree with you 100% Harvey. Headphones really are that exception to the rule. I really need to get my ducks in a row and order a half dozen from you. Mostly just for the larger more "energetic" sessions where all I need is sheer volume. I have nicer headphones to use for the individual tracking parts of sessions. I have been a big Sony 7506 fan for years. They are the only headphones I had tried that were fairly comfortable, handled low frequencies, and ran forever at louder volumes. I now also have a box full of broken ones. I don't believe in returning them for repairs. I hat spending my day on hold trying to get an RMA, then boxing it, paying shipping, waiting a month, paying return shipping etc... Thats what I lkove about using the Oktava mk012's on stage. I can use them on toms and if one breaks, I only paid $50 a piece for them so I can just throw it away and accept the fact that replacing is cheaper and easier than repairing it
The one bonus with the Sony 7506's is that when you buy them, the back of the packaging has complete wiring and parts diagrams. Thats why I have a box of broken ones. After i get a couple that have broken somehow, I pick one pair, and start robbing other pairs of parts and frankenstein one pair back into working condition In 6 years of using the Sony's, I have only had one driver blow. But I have had 5 sets that have suffered from "incedental" damages. Thats where the more-me headphones seem so nice. They are extremely affordable so I don't have to worry![]() I for one am glad that you have taken the approach that you have Harvey. I believe in honesty in sales. I trust them 1000% because you have come right out and called them what they were. A decent, yet affordable and durable approach to headphone monitoring. So from me to you, thanks Harvey ![]() |

Like you said, I didn't expect "good" phones, just usable ones that I could hand to my careless kids/friends without worry. I have 0 complaints.

I've got 10 pairs from Harvey... they perform EXACTLY as he said they would, and they stood up to quite a bit of abuse from Live-Off-The-Floor sessions (and still going strong!)
I wish more businesses would operate at Harvey's calibre as far as ethics and business practice go!

No it was $30 for the phones and $8 for shipping. So $38 total. I hadn't even taken into account the return policy, which is excellent compared to any other electronics I have seen. Like i said before, its not a question of me not liking the headphones or thinking I was cheated. I just wanted to give an honest explanation as to my first impression. They will do their job and thats all I ask from my equipment, especially when its budget equipment. No offense, I would buy them all over again if I had to. These are just temporary until I can start buying myself more equipment instead of buying everyone christmas presents. They will be the pair I give to someone else while I use my expensive pair when I finally get them. Also I should mention once again that I am still using the internal amp with my BR 1180 and not a dedicated headphone amp. So I expect that I will get a little better quality and less high volume distortion once I get the dedicated amp. |

For my "drop-these-on-the-floor-if-you-want-you-studip-rap-wannabe"-headphones I use 3 pairs of behringers cheapest. They actually work half decent, and for the price (163 sek which is about $20-25), Im satisfied.
Got AKG K240 and Beyer DT770Pro for my other needs. |

I just picked up two pairs and find them to be exactly what Harvey said they are. I have a set of AKGs that I bought for 4 times the price - I love them and they are extremely comfortable - and are delicate. My kids keep pinching 'em. Now they are off limits, don't get dragged to a gig, and might even have a life expectancy. There's a pair of Moreme cans available for the kids and I now have a pair in my live rig. These things get the job done and are pretty tough.
I'll try Harvey's suggestion with respect to fitting as mine are a little tight as well. Maybe it's my fat head. But based on what they've cost me and what they do, once I get the fit adjusted, I expect to order another four pairs.

He seems to have bought them from Front End, Harvey, does that make any difference?
I like the idea of you selling headphones in your 60s as a 'startup business' ... trying to score your first million!!

If you want a distributor for the UK ... I'll happily buy into it! I've said it before .. but really. I know Front End does ship though. But there's bound to be a market here somewhere ... !!
