Unhappy No cd showing in device menu

I recently put a P4 processor in my computer now, a couple of months later, replaced windows 98 with XP home. Now no CD drive shows up in the device menu wheh I select "extract audio from CD" in the file menu. Since I don't use CEP for ripping very often, I don't know if the drive disappeared when I put in the P4 processor or when I installed XP.

I searched here before posting an followed some links, but nothing worked. I installed the ASPI layer, used force ASPI and tried the ASPI patch on Adobe's website.

This isn't of vital importance since, Cool Edit is rarely used for ripping, but I would like to know what the problem is. I don't want it causing problems later with other programs.

Sounds like an issue of Device compatability with XP, not an Adobe issue. Unless, is it only happening with Audition?

Maybe re-install Audition?

It only happens with CEP, the drive works fine with everything else.
