just wondering how much the Samson Mixpad 12 sucks. I need a mixer with 6 mic pre amps, and the Mackie is out of my price range. This mixer looks exactly like what I need. What other mixing boards (with 6 mic pre amps) are available for this price range?
thanks a heap, ~Illusion Style |

Check out either the Behringer mx802a mixer
which has 8 channels and 4 mic-preamps and goes for about US$200.00. the Behringer mx2004ahas 8 micpreamps and goes for US$350.00. Visit www.zzounds.com for great deals on budget mixers. Good Luck! |

cool, those Behringer Eurorack mixers look sweet. Does anybody know how well the 802a, the 1604a, and the 2004a run? I found places selling the 2004a for $279.

I previously owned the Behringer mx2624 which
was the 16 channel mixer 4 aux ret and 2 sends. It also had 8 mic-pre's which were decent. The eq was ok but not musical enough! My main problen with this mixer was no on/off switch! I had to disconnect by pulling the plug out of the wall! They were originally $650.00 but www.samash.com now has them on sale for 'bout $350.00. check it out! |

I had a 1604a and it sounded real good. Better than the mackie I had before it, but not as good as the tascam I have now. Id go for it.

I just bought the Behringer 802A from Guitar Satan for $120. I was tired of using my old Tascam 4-track, and couldn't afford a Mackie, Spirit, or Soundcraft. I also saw the Behringers at either 8th Street or Zzounds for the same $120 price. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to use it yet so I can't comment on its quality. For the price, I think the Behringer will be very hard to beat, however.

Hey TDUKEX! 1 question. does your mixer have
a on/off switch? If it doesn't, i'm just curious as to how you shut it off! |

it does. and a phantom power swith right next to it.
However a lot of extremely anal machines have NO on/off switches due to the noise added by an *unneccesary* switch in the power line. Rane makes a lot of things like this. The best way around it is to plug in to a surge protector with a switch. Or you could put a rocker switch in your power cable (before the transformer) xoxoxo |

I just bought a Eurorack MX802A a week ago. It does indeed have a power switch, and phantom power switch. I got it for $120 at Guitar Center (a.k.a. Musicians Friend). I have not used it much yet but it seems solid, quiet and quite small for the all the stuff in it - 4 mono mic/line w/XLR inputs, 2 stereo (1/4 only)inputs, and 2 (!) aux send/returns in a package about 10" x 12". I am surprised to hear that the 24 channel unit did not have a power switch. I was looking into getting the Behringer Eurodesk 32x8 as my new main board but I have heard a lot of comments about its "uneven quality".

Hi there
I've been using the Behringer 802 for about 2 years now, and it's proved to be a very quiet, reliable and straightforward workhorse for sourcing etc. Though I now use a JoeMeek VC3 as a mike pre-amp, i used the 802 for a good while, and the eq is pretty good, the top not too hissy, the mid not too growly, and the bass end won't turn everything into bogland. Get one, they're a steal! I'm actually probably going to move up to the 1804(?) sometime soon as I need a new bigger desk. Only criticism: the phantom switch is WAY too close to the power switch, and i have very nearly sent that friendly 48V handshake straight out to an SM58 when trying to switch off - they don't like that. Have fun. |

The question is do you need 6 inserts??? do you want to record 6 different tracks at a time??? I dont think any of the cheap Behringers have 'em...
How many inputs does your sound card have??? |
