Metal Take Up Reel??

Where can I get a metal take up real like the one that came with my Fostex A-8? I just got this 8 track recorder and the plastic one they gave me is cheap. Also, I need one of the knobs that screws the reel down. Would anybody have these?
Thanks!

Your best bet is to keep your eyes open on Ebay nd other sites and businesses that sell used gear.

Ebay has become the defacto place to look for nearly everything under the sun!

Cheers!

I've been looking on eBay and the metal Ampex tapes seem to all be 10.5" reels which I don't think will fit on my Fostex A-8 (not sure what the max size I can use is though). Also, the center mounting "hole" is too big. I have the kind with a pin and a gide "nipple" as opposed to a huge round mount. Did I describe that OK? I sound like such a newbie.

Try refining your Ebay searches to the home use, reel to reel and accessories auctions as that's where all the smaller reels will be found along with tons of other cool stuff.

Cheers!
