i am trying to decide between the alesis M1 powered monitors and the event PS5 powered monitors. the price is the same and they have similar features. anyone have a good reason for preferring one set over the other?

i was in the same position last week and ended up with the yamaha nsp5's - mainly because i hated the m1-actives. i was surprised by this because i thought the monitor one's were great. the events were ok but the ps5's were nothing compared to the bigger ones. the yamahas are tiny compared to the competition and sound excellent. also, they have some eq tweaking switches so you can adjust depending on positioning. (i jammed mine into the corners so i had to compensate the bass. i hadn't even considered these monitors going into it but the sales guy in b&h in manhattan, uh, sold me. just my 2 cents.

Event 20/20p powered monitors will wail over the PS5s. I have them and think they're great. Haven't had one problem with them and they sound phenomenal.
