MIDI help

Hello, I'd like to add midi strings, horns, and drum; what i want to avoid is it sounding cheesey and fake. If my set up were to be micing, running it threw a mixer, into the soundcard, into powertracks, where would i add this midi? What equipment would i want? Thanks

billy. the quality of sounds from a midi sound module purely depends on the module you end up getting. its best to demo as bunch at a music store by going through all the patches in each midi sound module.
and see which you prefer.
for midi sound modules you might also ask the pro's on the powertracks forum at pgmusic and see what they recommend as well.
typically people use a midi master keyboard connected to midi in of the computer, then midi out of computer to one or more midi sound modules to produce the sounds.

as i said my advise is to demo a bunch of midi sound modules by roland, korg, and other companies at the music store.
what you should look for is multi timbral sound modules...
ie...capable of playing many different sounds at the same time like drums,
strings, trumpet etc etc.
normally drums are on midi channel 10.
