Registering songs - mechanicals
Hello, someone recommended that I register songs so that a record company would have to pay me "mechanicals". Does anyone know what this means and how I go about it? I am in Canada. Thanks.

Are you your own record company? If so, you don't need to worry about it.
If you're writing songs and somebody else is covering them, in the US, payment is usually handled by Harry Fox. There are several other, lesser known companies which provide the same service though.
