why are any songs I extract soooo quiet???

can anyone explain why (and tell me how to fix) any songs I extract in Cool Edit are so quiet???

they are real low volume and when I normailise it there will often be hissing - effecting ruining any hope I had of sampling from the track

I'm using an Audiophile 2496 soundcard...

thanks!

so - your doing a cd audio to wave conversion in cool . am i right ?
ok. in the waveform view on the track - a question. is the waveform very teeny , or nice and broad - so it fills the panel more or less top to bottom ?
get back to me. what are these on cd ? songs ? samples ?
are they cd's you made / (might have made the cd wrong) OR are they commercial song or sample CD's.??

rapedbyape is an unknown quantity at this point
Download a program called CDex, it's a free CD audio extraction program, although I forget where to download it from. Just search for it on Google.
