Need help for a gig in three hours!!!!!!
Is it possible to use a vcr to record audio using a mic (shure sm57 most likely)? As of right now I have it rigged up like this, but I can't hear any sound that got recorded.
Mic->XLR Cable->Reducer to 1/4 Stereo->Presonus Blue Max Mono input (laugh if you want, but it'll boost the weak mic's signal a little i would think)->From the presonus mono output->1/4 Stereo to dual stereo RCA's->RCA Audio cable to the single audio input on my VCR. I think that about sums it up. Also, for reference I had the audio outs going to my reciever and I could hear whatever show my roommate had taped through my headphones, but not what I thought I was recording. I'm thinking maybe something is wrong with going from stereo to mono and back again? Thanks for any help. Will |

If it's a HiFi vcr it will work...... if it isn't, it'll sound like AM radio.....

I think I'm just gonna scrap the idea anyway.........I think I'll just use my 424 instead......I was just wanting a smaller option ya know? Maybe I'll use my buddies porta01......but probably not the quality of the 424....
