Any thoughts on this site?

I was doing some research and came across this site. It sounds good, but it's kind of pricey. I know that doing it right isn't cheap, but what are your thoughts on going this route? Thanks!

Considering a standard doublewall, with an approx 10" airgap, 2 layers of 5/8 drywall on each leaf, and insulation in each cavity, is RATED at STC63, I don't think much of it at all, except it is OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced. $2400 for a 15' wall(single) Here is the deal though. UNLESS, your FLOOR, CEILING, DOORS, JAMBS, HVAC, ELECTRICAL meet the same level of isolation, your wasteing money. A rated door assembly that meets this STC would set you back a cool $2500 too Then tack on another $7k to $10k for an HVAC with an NC-20 rating and you begin to see. Those ratings are baloney without the rest of it. That is the tested specs they give, which in practice, still depends on the WEAKEST LINK. So save your money. Figure out what your REAL tolerance level for soundtransmission is, because isolation is in the ear of the beholder. UNLESS you are BILL GATES, take a reality check.

That's what I figured! Thanks. I am going to start construction on my building in about 6 months, and I am still in the planning stages. I am going to put up the building, so I was looking at every aspect. I don't really have a worry about neighbors, so I was really just looking into room treatment, and keeping out unwanted noise. The building will be 35ft x 51 feet with a small office/reception area. Do you think that will be enough? I am drawing the plans out in Microsoft Visio, since it's available to me. I can post it here for help, if you want?

If you're actually building from scratch, or even if not - this is all we do, and there's a TON of info already here for the reading -

Not trying to pull you away, it's just that I don't have the time anymore to get into detail on more than one forum... Steve

I concurr. Remember that your best bang for the buck is two massive leafs isolated from each other and having a wide dampened airspace. All their pads do is to create extra leafs and extra isolations. If you look at their most expensive system you might consider it a four leaf construction.

And also definitly it is the case that the real devil is in the details.

Thanks a lot for the info and the url. I will definitely check it out. I have my scratch plans laid out, but I am fine tuning right now for the best view of the entire live room from the control booth. I made the booth big enough for a refrigerator and a microwave! (and a lava lamp....)

Hey Steve, this is EXACTLY why I try to post my opinions here. You are THE BEST, and not to speak for ya, but I try to extrapolate what you would offer in my own words here. If I linked everything to YOU, you'd be OVERWHELMED..........and THEN what would happen to this forum? I know I blow it sometimes, but I'll take the rap. I learn that way too..
