Monitoring: what happened to the vocals?
Hi, I have a question to anyone who'll listen. I just bought a pair of Wharfedale Diamond Pro Active 8.2 monitors... they seem fine but there's a problem in certain frequency ranges, indeed, when I listen to some reference CDs, the vocals all seem very low in volume, very soft compared to the rest of the music, also the vocals seem overly "washed" in reverb, it just doesn't sound right. It sounds as if they were out-of-phase (they're not though)...
I didn't have this issue with my old Alesis M1s. Could it have anything to do with room acoustics? Can I do anything about this? Remove my carpet? Remove some acoustic tiles on the wall? Also, when I use the "bass cut" switch on the monitors, the vocals are a bit better, but the bass is totally lost... Help! Thxs. |

From what you describe it seems that the speakers are out of phase.
Is the sound als wider than the stereofield used to be, is the sound coming from a place more left and right from where the monitors are?
