2 Br-1600 Questions

Greetings, kind folks.

I've had the BR-1600 for a couple months now and am stymied by two functions, and yes, I've read the manual. Maybe I'm just slow.

Question 1: There is no auxillary send. Other than exporting files, fiddling with them, and reimporting them, is there a way to affect an already existing track (or tracks) with outboard gear?

Question 2: I wanted to use the drum pads for some simple cymbal hits, etc. and couldn't figure out how to record the drums from the pads live to a track. I would think this would be a simple task, but I always end up getting to the point where it's asking me to program patterns.
