Loud Cymbals
I'm having a problem with really loud, really bright cymbals. They're coming through pretty much every mic in a huge way. I'm using sm57s on the snare, T1, and T2, a Beta 52 on the kick, two Octava overheads, and an Octava condenser room mic (forget the numbers on those, but the overheads are the small skinny silver ones, and the room is the big condenser). I'm wondering if sounds treating the room would help. Would the help cut down on some of the high end that's flying all over the place? I'm sure I'm not being specific enough, but maybe you guys can help. Thanks.

Hit the drums harder...a lot harder. If the room mic isn't picking up the drums and cymbals in the proper mix, it's because the drummer isn't playing the drums in the proper mix.
