yamaha 01v - one question at a time

hi everyone,
Just a quick question regarding the yamaha 01v and Cubase.

Is there anyway i can trigger single shot samlples like one can with pads on most samplers? If i connected a keyboard, for instance, could i use the keyboards keys as pads?
