Mackie HDR needs automation?!?

Hi, I own a Mackie HDR24. I'm currently using a 24/8bus to track to this machine. The mixdown of course is all manual. I'm having a rough time without any automation. It's a lot of digital camera pics and tons of documentation to "save"" mixes/ changes etc. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!

I could bring the masking tape and magic markers.

The up side is every mix is a new and exciting performance.

Are you just looking for ways to document your mixes or to get into MixInTheBox'ing? I used to use the blank 'Mackie 8-bus' templates, and drew in rough dial positions of all the comps and efx and stuff.

All very crude and time consuming it is.

Well, actually I was hoping to keep my recorder and add automation at mix down. How do I go about that? Can I keep the HDR? I was hoping not to have to start all over again and record onto a computer HD if I didn't have to.

I just got left behind with knowledge, didn't keep up with the information age, I guess.

It should be possible to sync a digital mixer with your Mackie HDR via SMPTE or MTC and use the digital mixer to perform an automated and recallable mixdown.

That's pretty cool. Will I be able to see the stuff on a screen etc. Like a computer screen, or will I need additional software etc?

Woops sorry folks, it's an MDR24 not "H"DR24. I'm not sure if that will make a difference.
