16 Channel Mixer

Howdy, I've been working sound for a few local bands of late, mostly having them pay me extra so I could rent the gear to do it for them. Most of the places are just empty rooms that have nothing. So I have 1000 bucks, give or take, and would like the best mixer in that price range. It would need only 16 channels. So what would it be?

I'd be looking for something like a used Mackie CR1604 or a 1604VLZ. Full featured, reliable and built like a tank.

I just bought a Mackie CR1604 for $180 US including shipping from Georgia to Canada. They're really cheap. If you have $1000, aim higher than that. Or, save some money and get some rack gear.

Also, if you run up on the CR1604, make sure it has the POD with the extra 10 mic preamps with it so all 16 channels can handle a mic input, otherwise it only has 6 preamps. The The 1604 VLZ comes with a preamp opn all 16 channels.
