Drum mics directly on MOTU 828mkII

Is it wise to directly connect the drum mics,
- snare
- bass
- 4 toms
- 2 overhead
into a MOTU 828mkII?

Please give me tips advice, if not please give me advice on what to do that.
I'm sort of a "newbie" if you want to call it like that with the "homerecording" and stuff.

Thank you.

Not a good idea! First off you would need phantom power if the over heads are condensors.

You need mic pres.

A small decent mixer will get you started then get dedicated good pres later on.

You could use the two front inputs for condenser mics, but the 8 rear analog In's are line level so you would still need some form of preamps to run mics to those inputs.
Check out the thread over in the Rack on the ADA 8000. For just over $200 you can increase the amount of preamped inputs and still have the 8 line level inputs available for whatever.
